First you give a bath.  Make sure you lather the dog everywhere!   Rinse and repeat bath again.

Put on conditioner wait 5 minutes and rinse until water runs clear. Towel dry any excess water.

Once this is done use a blow dryer (no or low heat) and dry dog completely.

As long as your puppy is healthy you can bathe it as frequently as once a week.

You should use a good quality shampoo for dogs that can be found at your local pet store.  Do not use

human shampoos as the PH is wrong for dogs.  It is important to thoroughly dry the puppy, which should be

done by toweling and brushing while blowing dry with a hair dryer.  Your puppy probably

won't care for this but eventually will learn to accept it.  The older dog should

be combed free of mats before bathing.  Never get any water in the ears.

After bathing you can put a few drops of alcohol in the ears which will keep them dry.  Water

in the ears encourages bacterial growth leading to ear infections.  Be careful not to get alcohol

or soap in the eyes. If this happens, rinse the eyes immediately.  You should be sure to let your puppy

potty before bathing since he should be kept in OUT OF DRAFTS until thoroughly dry.
