A "Daudy"  house is  the smaller home on an Amish farm where the grandparents usually live.  Since Norman and Nettie didn't have grandparents living in their daudy they rented it out for the englishmen to stay when visiting the area.  There is no electricity on the farm  everything runs on batteries.  Staying in the Daudy lets you have the experience of how the Amish really live.
